Attention Cord users! With Cord's closure coming soon in August, the search for a reliable alternative for its collaborative features is likely on your mind, but fear not! Velt offers powerful collaborative features that will make having to switch from Cord feel like a blessing in disguise. Velt's SDK will help you boost your app's engagement, differentiate you above your competitors, and allow your dev team to ship faster! We offer many styles of commenting as well as notifications which means that all the functionality which you had with Cord will be covered and then some! Beyond that, we offer additional features like huddles and presence for a richer collaboration experience. We've built a guided migration process to ensure a smooth transition from Cord's SDK to ours. This post will explain how to migrate your app's collaborative functionality from Cord to Velt.
Start your Migration
The first step in the migration process is scheduling a call with our team to discuss your product and ensure that Velt’s SDK meets your needs. This can be done via our migration page or by emailing us at migration@velt.dev
After that we will request access to your application so that we can thoroughly explore all the areas where functionality needs to be migrated from Cord to Velt.
Next you will need to acquire your Cord data in the JSON format, which can be downloaded from Cord through their REST APIs.
After that we will have you send us a small portion of that data, so that we can do a test migration. We will provide you a way to securely transfer this data to us. Once we have received this sample data, our team will migrate it to a test environment for your team to take a look at.
Once your team has confirmed that the initial data has been migrated correctly and as expected, we will have you securely send us all of your Cord data so that we can migrate it to a Velt Production Account for you.
Once all of that is done, your product is ready to go live to your customers!
Make it just as collaborative as the big dogs—Google Docs, Sheets, Figma, Frame.io.
